Camera Shopping

I have discovered the love for pocket cameras. I have a Panasonic Lumix that I bought before we got married a few years ago. We were planning our honeymoon in Red River, New Mexico. With lots of hiking, four-wheeling, and fishing planned, I wanted a camera to capture not only pictures of us, but some scenery as well. It has served us well with all of its zooming capabilities. It has a large lens...lots of options...bells, whistles...and it scares the baby. (darn, didn't think of that!)

Since I could rarely get the baby to smile for the Lumix (they're supposed to smile on cue by now, right?), I decided that we needed a smaller camera. Something that I could grab and click and wasn't too noticeable to baby's discerning vision. (Yet, he can act like he doesn't see that spoon of baby prune puree that I stick under his nose. Selective vision perhaps?) So after careful research on the web, discussions on message boards, and comparisons on websites, I decided on a Canon SD890 IS 10-Megapixel with 5x optical zoom and a 2.5" LCD display. I was so proud of myself.

The next time we were out running errands, I looked a Hubby, batted my eyelashes that actually had mascara on them for the day, and said, "Hey, Sweeeeeety...would you mind too terribly if we stopped by Circuit City so I could look at the camera that I want just to make sure I like it as much as I think I do?" Folks, I ask you...who could resist that? Yes, I could have said, "Yo! Stop over there! I have stuff to do!" Either way would have accomplished the task, but I like it when he says, "You know that we can do anything you want to do!" That just gives me a snuggly feeling on the inside, and I love that!

He got the baby out of the carseat and carried him because we were "...only going to be there for a minute!" He knew better than that, but I like to fool myself into thinking that I can shop quickly. Oh wait...I wasn't there to shop, I was there to look! Anyway, we get in there, we look, I ask him his opinion, we talk, we walk out of there with this...

Yes, it says OLYMPUS. No, it's not a Cannon. Once again, my gadget guy has the low down on stuff and shows me the light. This super sweet little camera has 10.1 megapixels, a 7x optical zoom, a 2.7" hyper crystal LCD (my favorite part), dual image stabilization, and best of all, the baby doesn't even notice when I'm holding it!! I snapped these after getting the battery charged. Love love love it!

Never mind muttimusses hair. (her name is Lil) I'll post "after" photos...I trimmed her this past weekend.
