Baby Scoots

Hubby wonders about me sometimes (like this morning for instance) when I talk to our little guy about always saying "dadadada" and never "mamamama". I remind my sweet child that I'M the one with the stretch marks around the equator...I'M the one whose chest will never be the same...I'M the one who carefully consumed all of those hamburgers in the first trimester just so that he'd have plenty of protein and iron for a healthy start in life. I mean, yes, that was a big sacrifice, especially having to eat all those fries that came with those combo meals, but sometimes a mama's gotta do what a mama's gotta do.

I digress...Kelton is one the verge of learning how to crawl. He's scooting backwards. Would you like to know how I know this? Is it because he showed us his talent in his crib? NO. Is it because he belly crawled on our bed while I was folding laundry? NO. Is it because while he and I were enjoying some playtime on the floor mat at home he showed me that he can push himself around? NO. It's because he decided that he'd start propelling himself backwards at DAYCARE. WHY??? Why did he choose to show off a new talent at daycare? He's supposed to save all of those surprises for us when we're at home so we get the sweet sense of parental accomplishment when we drop him off at daycare. Instead, I walked in yesterday morning to pick him up for his stinky earwax appointment, and the lady announces, "Kelton is learning how to crawl!" I had my shocked mommy face on and said, "WHAT?!" And she smiled so pleasantly and said, "Oh yes! He's been psuhing backwards all morning!" I'm a little disappointed that we didn't get to see that first, but I'm also excited that he's closer to mobility. I can't wait to see him actually crawl!

Love it! I also made the same sacrifices with the burger combo meals, and I even through in some KFC chicken for good measure. I wanted a gourmet loving child. As far as your little one scooting back, watch out! He'll be cruising in no time!

When my mom watched my kiddos, she'd always wait for me to tell her that they did something new even though I knew full well that they had already done it for her :-).
