Yes, I know "feeled" isn't a word! And NO this is not a dirty post!
I think I posted earlier that Neal and I are taking turns at sleeping in Kelton's room so at least one of us can get a decent night's sleep. Lately, that task has fallen mostly on my sweet husband because I've been sick (as I think I've written about a dozen times by now...I'll get off that subject, I promise!). Kelton's room is also the guest room so not only is his crib in there, but there's also a full sized bed. Yes, the room is cramped. To further our convenience for having to sleep in there with him, I bought these foam rail thingies that you put on the mattress under the fitted sheet. It makes a little cozy spot for baby to sleep on the bed without being able to roll off the bed or into a bunch of pillows or into the person sleeping next to him. Well, when K-man isn't sleeping very hard, he's learned that he can flop his arm over on the side rail and touch you. So, when you're sleeping next to him, every now and then, a little hand plops on your arm and runs up and down between your wrist and elbow making sure you're still there. Now, I'll agree that it's incredibly sweet that our little boy checks to make sure mom or dad are still right there. But, it really kind of freaks me out when I'm sound asleep and my arm starts getting caressed out of nowhere in the middle of the night. It doesn't take me but a second to remember where I am and that it's the baby checking his safety net.
Now, it's another story when Hubby snores at night and it wakes me up. He's been clocked enough times that all I have to do is raise an arm and he'll turn over in his sleep. That sounds like a mean wife, doesn't it? Well, I didn't mean to hit him that hard!! You know, when a person is asleep and they're having to gently tap their beloved to remind him that he is snoring and needs to turn over, sometimes you accidentally misjudge how far your hand/fist is from his chest and your arm is so tired that when it falls on poor Hubby, it's more like a maneauver to restart someone's heart that it is a gentle loving nudge. Or sometimes, you move your foot to give him a gentle tap on the leg to wake him up enough to quit snoring and you twitch a little too hard and leave a bruise on his shin. Those are accidents I tell you!!! Accidents!! Darn! I sidetracked this blog and now I have to quit typing before I post any more incremenating data.
