Use the Brakes

Sometimes you do things that when you look back on the decision you made, you just have to shake your head and wonder what in the world your thought process was.

Take yesterday morning. I was ready to leave to go to work. The garage door was open, and the vehicle was on. I put it in reverse and backed up about 6 inches before it stopped moving. I thought, "Hmmm...that's odd." So I put it in drive and took my foot off the gas to see if it would roll forward, which it didn't. I put it back in reverse and thought, "Well, if it's stuck on something in the transmission, maybe I should just give it more gas." And I did...plenty of it. And I felt the back tire roll up on something.

I got out, walked around the vehicle, and saw a bathroom fixture firmly wedged underneath my back tire. I gave it a dirty look, got back in the driver's seat, and backed it up another foot. Then took the now mangled fixture out from under the vehicle and put it back on the garage shelf from which it fell.

As I drove to work, I called Hubby and told him the story of the now mangled fixture and how it came to be that way. I could hear him shaking his head on the other end of the line.

ME: "You know, I probably shouldn't have stomped on the gas when I wasn't sure what was behind me."

....*silence*....*him clearing his throat*...

HIM: "I was just thinking that but wasn't gonna say it."

I told you...he's a wise wise man.

I'm not going to say anything.

Suffice it to say my wife's family has a driving history that includes backing into a basketball goal (twice), running over ladders, and knocking a trailer out into the highway.

A bath fixtures isn't too bad.

HAHA! Too funny! At least the door was open. Because, you know, some people have been known to try and back the car out with the door closed...
