Starbux - My Way

A few weekends ago, I threw caution to the wind and tried a caramel machiatto at Starbux. Oh, Lordy mercy me! I never knew coffee and caramel could join in such a happy, holy, and lusciuos union. My husband was jealous for a moment. However, we are in some economic times and I'm a tightwad frugal person as it is, so I set out to make my own version of this at home...cheaper.

Here's how my concoction goes. And it's pretty darn good if I say so myself.



Get out your favorite coffee cup. This is my new one...from Starbux. They suckered me into this. I like blue...I like stripes...I love neat coffee mugs. But not too neat or artsy fartsy or else I'll get tired of them and then feel wasteful. Oh...back to the topic....pour some vanilla syrup into the cup. I eyeballed it...maybe a teaspoon...maybe tablespoon. Not sure...just cross your eyes, bite your cheek, and grunt a little...it'll all work out.



Now, dip into the caramel sauce you swore up and down that you were going to make yourself until you realized that you had been in Target for over an hour and decided just to buy the darn stuff. Yeah, that. Get a big ole spoonfull and glop it in there.



Hot coffee over the top of the sweets. This helps melt the caramel. It makes it happy. It will make you happy.



Now, just a splash of skim milk. And stir gently.

mmmmmm...why am I writing this so late when I know I can't have this? I have to get up early and should be sleeping, but I'm blogging about coffee. Ya'll prove to me I haven't gone insane and go make this. Then tell me that you enjoyed it. (lie to me if need be) And then I'll feel that I did a good thing...
