I want to know

Kelton had his check-up today at the gastroenterologist. He's been doing great on the Nutramigen and we'll go in for skin tests in mid-November to test for dairy and soy allergies. After that, we'll know whether to buy whole milk, soy milk, or rice milk...and then I can cook for him! Hopefully he'll like mashed potatoes better than he liked the chicken I made for him. Yes, he loves the jarred turkey mush from the store? We have a lot to teach him about 'good' food.

We also learned that his head is growing very quickly, and it concerned the doctor enough today to order a cat scan on him. We go in Tuesday for it. It may be that K-man just has a big noggin. Or it could be a condition where the fluid isn't draining off of his brain and is exerting pressure causing his head to enlarge since the skull hasn't fused yet. However, after the skull fuses, that pressure would then be exerted on the brain. The cat scan will tell us the story. I want to know what's going on with my child. Yet, I'm scared to death to hand him over for them to administer an IV to sedate him and then scan him. I'm scared of the answer. My instinct says there's nothing wrong with my baby. My head is asking my instinct if that's the truth or is that just what I want to tell myself. I've called our pediatrician to fill her in on this since K-man's check-up in September didn't throw any red flags then. I want answers and I don't want to wait for them.

Poor K-man. Hopefully everything will work out. We will be thinking of you guys next week.

My daughter was on Nutramigen. She had her milk test just before a year old and was fine. Even got to eat cake on her first birthday! With her test though, they gave her a little milk in the allergists office and then watched for any reaction. Then a little more and so on.

Good luck next week!

We had to do this with Claire. She has always had a HUGE head...still does. But they wanted to check for the same thing...she turned out fine. I hope and pray your little guy will too. Some kids just have big heads...with big, giant brains inside! :)
