First Harvest

I harvested my first batch of lettuce yesterday evening! It was enough to make a salad for lunch today. While I was grilling steaks last night, I turned my attention to our mini farm and noticed that things had really done some growing in the past few days. My stance with lettuce is that I harvest leaves as it grows, so what we get may be small leaves but they are power packed with nutrients and the plant will keep producing. I generally pinch the leaves off about an inch from the base of the plant. The spinach is giving it the good ole college try - we'll see how they do in the next few weeks. I have strawberries in hanging baskets on the front porch, however I suspicion they are not getting enough direct sun, so I may have to relocate them this weekend.

Plants left to put in the ground - watermelon, squash, and a jasmine.

I am intimidated to even try a garden here in Vegas. I think I would have to do container gardening if I did.
I can't wait to read more about your garden.
